The Studio 2 from Science Image is an updated version of the NDI Studio 4K.SH. Like the previous version, the Studio 2 is a powerful NDI video encoder, decoder, and format converter all in one compact device. It has both 12G-SDI and HDMI2.0 inputs and outputs, supporting virtually any video signal up to 4Kp60.
The NDI encoding and decoding elements can convert either SDI or HDMI signals to and from High-Bandwidth NDI, ensuring the highest possible video fidelity over IP networks. In addition to the baseband connections, the Studio 2 also features a high-speed SFP+ optical fiber slot, which is designed to use the Science Image T1 12G-SDI fiber transceiver module. With the T1 fiber module installed, the Studio 2 can send and receive SDI, HDMI and NDI signals up to 20KM over single-mode fiber. This feature is also cross-compatible with Science Image’s other fiber-enabled devices, including the FLOW 4K, Studio 4K.SH, Studio Edge, Flow Edge, and Vela rack encoders.
The internal converter can convert to and from most standard video formats, independently of the NDI conversion.
For live broadcasting, the Studio 2 also features a brightly lit LED tally bar, 2-way intercom audio, stereo embedded analog audio, and 1/4″-20 threaded hole for convenient mounting to most tripods, cameras, and stands.
In addition to the 1.3″ LED display for viewing important settings, at the request of customers the Studio 2 adds a new scroll wheel button for an easier way to control settings without having to connect to the browser-based Web UI.
